Diabetes Mellitus( Type 1 )
- Beta cell destruction leads to total insulin deficiency.
- Impaired beta cell function due to genetic defect.
- Impaired insulin action due to genetic defect.
Diabetes is a chronic disease marked by persistently elevated blood sugar levels brought on by deficiencies in either insulin action or secretion, or both.
Both these diseases are genetically predisposed and lifestyle-acquired, respectively. The recommended HbA1c criteria should be used for the early diagnosis of diabetes and prediabetes since diabetes can harm the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, and nerves over time.
According to Ayurveda, the Diabetes Mellitus can be rarely related to Madhumeha (Honey like sweet urine). It is one among the 20 types of Prameha (Urological disorder), where 2 types of symptoms are given. One is Excess Urination (Polyuria) and other is Turbid Urine. It happens because of vitiated Vata due to Sahaja (Genetics) or Kalaja (Acquired) nidana (Etiology). Sahaja can be compared to Type 1 and Acquired with Type 2.
