WHAT IS TINNITUS ?

Tinnitus is the perception of sound without an external source, often described as ringing, buzzing, or hissing. It can be constant or intermittent and may affect one or both ears.

TYPES

  • Subjective Tinnitus: The most common type, where only the patient hears the sound. It can be constant or intermittent.
  • Objective Tinnitus: Rare type, where the sound is detectable by a healthcare provider. It is often caused by blood vessel abnormalities or muscle contractions.
  • Pulsatile Tinnitus: A type of tinnitus where the sound pulses in rhythm with the heartbeat, often due to vascular issues.
